Dr Suzan Aydinlar
Counselling Psychologist
I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist offering online psychological therapy appointments. I also offer supervision to trainee and qualified psychologists.
About me
I have over ten years’ experience working in adult mental health services within the NHS, supporting people through a wide range of challenges. My work has included roles in psychological therapies teams, a perinatal community mental health team, and as a trial therapist on a randomised controlled trial. I have also led a group-based DBT service, helping people develop skills to regulate their emotions. Before this, I worked at the University of Glasgow Counselling and Psychological Services, supporting both students and academics, as well as in third-sector organisations.
I have recently joined the team at Solas Psychology, alongside my ongoing role in the NHS, and I look forward to working collaboratively with clients to support their psychological wellbeing.
Psychological Therapy
I understand that each of us carries a unique history that shapes how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. My aim is to provide a warm, supportive space where you feel safe to explore your experiences and difficulties, at your own pace.
I take a collaborative approach, working with you to understand your needs, goals, and preferences, and tailor my therapeutic approach to fit you. Together, we can create a therapeutic plan that empowers you to make meaningful and lasting changes in your life.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, such as:
· Stress and burnout
· Anxiety and panic
· Low mood and depression
· Difficulties with emotion regulation
· Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
· Obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviours
Approaches used:
· Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
· Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
· Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
· Schema Therapy
· Person-Centred and Experiential Therapies
Supervision
I offer supervision to both qualified and trainee psychologists. My aim is to create a safe, reflective space where you can openly explore therapeutic processes, recognise challenges, and build on your strengths. I strive to tailor my supervisory approach to meet your individual needs and professional development goals.
I have completed NHS Education for Scotland’s Generic Supervision Skills training, alongside specialist supervision training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and restorative clinical supervision. My post-qualification training includes training in intensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), schema therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), as well as CBT approaches for psychosis, trauma, birth trauma, and eating disorders.
